My Conversion Experience
When I was twenty-one, I was invited to attend an area-wide crusade at the football stadium at a local university. An evangelist named Freddie Gage was preaching. Another man named Jerry Wayne Bernard was leading the music during the crusade. One evening Jerry Wayne Bernard shared his own testimony, detailing his life and personal struggles.
As Jerry Wayne shared, I began to relate his story with my own struggles. I realized that I needed a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. At one point, he shared how he discovered Jesus Christ had died on a cross for his sins. Then, he told us that Jesus was buried, and that he had arisen from that grave, conquering death. He asked everyone in the crowd if we believed that was true. Then, he asked us if we would like to pray for forgiveness for our own sins. I knew that I needed to make that commitment.
